Love the list Niko, I remember putting together something similar in 2014 when I was learning what Synthetic Biology was - but this is far more comprehensive.
The only addition off the top of my head is in the biocontainment area, where I think you need a piece on engineered kill switches. Finn Stirling's work is the one that jumps to mind; https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5812007/
I'm a little bit surprised you don't have a protein engineering section, but that's a whole field.
Thanks, Devon. Added the Pam Silver paper. I thought about protein design, but the field has moved so quickly. Do you have recommended papers in that area, including reviews?
Thanks for your comment, Michael, and for reading. You've asked some interesting questions, which I'm afraid I don't have good answers for. Life, of course, is wonderfully adaptable. There are organisms that live in ice and others that live in geothermal geysers. I think it is sometimes possible to evolve organisms to persist at higher or lower temperatures. But I don't think it'd be possible to make a life form sans water.
