Add some characters, a few dialogues or quotes here and there, and sprinkle a couple of plot twists, and you have something that reads like a documentary extension to “Code Breakers” by Walter Isaacson.
The world would be a better place with more science fiction that makes your brain sweat instead of feeding you endless violence.
Wow. Amazingly written and crafted. Looks a perfectly realistic expectation of scenarios. The point on large sets of data being a deterrent for companies to invest in more than 1-2 sources makes complete sense. As specialisation continues to increase Go Deep will become the norm and hence the higher number of A,T, C & G sounds plausible. The truth will indeed become more unbelievable than fiction. However one question to the author - do we think humans will become more intelligent than DeepSeek or alternates as their own genes are expected to be modified and the model of life makes them super geniuses :)
Loved this! The section on gene regulatory network discovery was such a cool way to show the potential of AI in biotech. It’s fascinating how pushing models beyond standard benchmarks might uncover hidden biological patterns. Excited to see where these ideas take us! 🔬
This story is a wild ride. I hope you will consider turning it into something bigger one day.

This is great.
Thank you for making my day.

this is fun — i’m gonna need a lot more nanopore action if you expand on this
Great story. What was the prompt used to generate the cell illustration?
The cell illustration is a real watercolor painting created by David Goodsell.
Well isn’t that beautiful. Thanks
