On the local African point of view. Africa's agricultural land was fine without the introduction on imported GMO crops. A better solution is to improve what is already there rather than bringing gmo plants and seeds like maize that in the long term, and all these pestisides messed up the agricultural and nutrition for the local people in Africa. The GMO plants like maize, that were introduced there (I can speak from the Sierra Leone point of view) is ruining the soil as it it not native to the land. There were and are very nutritious crops that are local to Africa.
I would say that food security is many multiples more important than climate change - after all, people can live in space for months but not much more than 2 weeks without food
Really fascinating. Thanks for writing this - I’m going to share it with some relatives who could use an updated view of GM.
This was an interesting story told in such a straightforward way, with a positive light on science. Glad this is is now stored in my brain somewhere!

Cue to "progressive" grupos to lose their minds over this with their bad science claims and "colonization" claims on their behalf
