I was wondering if there is a similar rough correlation observed between the size of genome and the size of mitochondrial DNA ?
Also, since metabolic rate scales with body mass of different species, perhaps, that could be linked to extra energy being generated by ATP to support function and repair ? The back of the envelope calculation is interesting but it doesn’t explain the energy and diffusion bottlenecks. Curious if you have explored this in more depth or planning to write another article.
Very interesting article, Niko !

Very lucidly explained the complex science of estimation on DNA size in fern vs onion method used and why …….
The energetic behind DNA packing in nature and efficiency of process was explained beautifully uncluttered with jargon….
More articles on crispr CAS9 system explained would be awaited and expected…..
Asimov press kudos to you
